I'm not a fan of having any walls different from the other, unless that difference is something like a fireplace. My choice for breaking up any expanses of wall would be something more like chair rail.

I like one color on all ones, especially for smaller rooms. Smaller rooms can look "cut" with an accent wall.

I don't think all the rooms that are near each other need to be the same color, but they do need to complement each other.
