I just replied to someone else's question about a wall, and then I realized it may be an idea for you: What about adding a wallpaper border or else stencil to the wall. Then, too, there are small shelves you could put on the wall and add something like plants.

There's always inexpensive prints from any number of stores. There's framing fabric or else framing dried flowers.
