Default Budget Redecorating

So, I'm going to redecorate my room in a month or two. I'm going to paint some walls..maybe buy a new computer table and chair. I don't have a lot of money to shell out.

Can you please share some cheap design tricks?

The first thing that comes to mind is to not be afraid to shop at places like flea markets and yard sales. There are some really great bargains for good furniture and accents at those places, and usually at a very good price.

Default Decorating on a Budget

Besides shopping at stores known for offering nice items at clearance or discounted prices, sometimes nice decorating accents can be found at places like church fairs, flea markets, or even dollar stores.

One trick I used when I was a young, working, person was to use lots of inexpensive plants (like philodendron) as accents. Wicker and straw can usually be found fairly inexpensively.

Craft stores or the craft departments at discount department stores often offer things you can put together to make something like a wall hanging. Unpainted wooden shapes of one sort or another, a stick-on hook, and some 50 cents/bottle craft paints can become a wall hanging (or door hanging) of your preference if you add a couple of silk flowers and a ribbon. (One stem or bunch of silk or dried flowers can be taken apart and used for different things.)

Buying inexpensive glass vases and painting them can make a pretty vase.

Ah! Now there's an idea I like for sure! I've never done this but it sounds like it would be fun. What kind of paint would you recommend using for a project like that?

I just replied to someone else's question about a wall, and then I realized it may be an idea for you: What about adding a wallpaper border or else stencil to the wall. Then, too, there are small shelves you could put on the wall and add something like plants.

There's always inexpensive prints from any number of stores. There's framing fabric or else framing dried flowers.

A few pictures or paintings on a wall can make so much difference it's unbelievable. Also a nice vase of flowers somewhere, and some nice lighting.

One more little piece of advice, don't get too carried away on accessorizing, a cluttered room just looks worse than a plain room.

This is a very good tip. I was so glad when I finally learned that lesson. An uncluttered room is so much more classy-looking that one that is over-decorated.

Hi!

I hope this is not too late. Aside from flea markets as suggested, you can also try recycling furnitures and there's several organizations that could help. You can join such networks and look around for useful stuffs...

You could try using old stuff like couches or something and just refurnish them to make them look new but a lot cheaper. Just a suggestion.

Hy EastWest. Here id a cheap trick you could try. Some beautiful designed and patterned blinds should be enough to enrich the entire look of your rooms. It worked just fine for me and the entire redecoration turned out to be an inexpensive and low time consuming process. Here is where I bought mine from, at attractive discounts: http://www.online-shopping-directory.net/info/2424.php
