Default Kitchen remodel

We're planning a major kitchen remodel this year. Our current one is the original 1952 from when our house was first built, yellow tile countertop and all! We're looking to do it less expensively, so we're probably going to get Ikea cabinets and install those ourselves, but have an electrician and a plumber come to take care of those things. Anyone have any other suggestions?

1st thing to ask is that: 1. are you going to change your kitchen layout? 2. will you be moving any partition walls?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, you need professional help. If not, IKEA kitchen is a solid choice!
